Extending over 1.20 hectares (3 acres), this plot facing south/south-east is the largest in the domaine. Its soil is composed mainly of limestone and sand.

Named after a previous owner, Mr. Bataille, the vineyard lies next to the road from Beaune to Vergy (thus “Vergelesses” or, in 830, “Vergelosses”).

These red wines are characterised by their richness and delicate aromas, and are a superb accompaniment for grilled young pigeon, bacon- or mushroom-based dishes
